Zusatztext

Since 2006, Henry Jenkins' Confessions of an Aca-Fan blog has hosted hundreds of interviews in which academics, activists and artists have shared their views on the changing media landscape. For the first time, Jenkins - often called 'the Marshall McLuhan for the twenty-first century' - compiles some of these interviews to highlight his recurring interests in popular culture and social change. The book explores the transition from the social and cultural opportunities offered by a networked culture, the way new media technologies and practices are reshaping schools, as well as considering new forms of civic engagement and social change in an age of social media and video-sharing. Contributors include the Wu Ming Foundation, David Gauntlett, Ethan Zuckerman, the Digital Youth Project, Sonia Livingstone, S. Craig Watkins, James Paul Gee, Anterio Garcia, Stephen Duncombe, Cathy Cohen, Leni Srivastava, Jonathan McIntosh, and William Uricchio. Designed as a companion to Participatory Culture in a Networked Era, this book includes an introduction from Jenkins and up-to-date reflections from the interviewees. It is ideal for students and scholars of digital media, popular culture, education, and politics, as well as general readers with an interest in this topic.
