German philosophers and theologians have traditionally kept a critical distance to the concept of happiness - unlike their Anglo-Saxon colleagues. However for some years now German philosophy has been dealing intensively with this concept. German Protestant theology can also make a constructive contribution to a specific concept of happiness - based on its fundamental position which is critical of happiness.
