Zusatztext
This volume combines eleven articles on Max Weber's research on the sociology of religion, domination and the city. Stefan Breuer begins by explaining the basic terms such as magic, the rejection of the world, legitimate and non-legitimate domination, patrimonialism and democracy and then elaborates on them. Using this, he shows the tragic line which is characteristic of many of Weber's 'major narratives'. The volume is rounded off by four studies of the partially contemporary and partially factual context of Max Weber's sociology. They deal with its place in the 'German line' of sociology, which was established by Tönnies, with its relationship to Georg Jellinek's social theory of the state and its profile as it compares to a theory of social discipline and of civilization.
