Zusatztext
This book challenges current debates about the social and cultural practices involved in the reproduction of the upper middle classes. Although acknowledging the historically privileged position of this group, the book examines particular burgeoning demands to which this class has to respond in an arguably newer and more pressing manner: schooling and residential choice. By focusing in the case of Chile - a highly unequal society with moderate levels of short-range social mobility - this book questions whether the upper middle classes in the most well-off areas of the capital, Santiago, are actually able to reproduce their privileged position in the same terms and extents than in the recent past.
