Bhut Jolokia was found to be infected by viral disease complex caused by four viruses viz., Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV), Potato virus Y (PVY), Groundnut Bud Necrosis Virus (GBNV) and Chilli leaf curl virus (ChLCV). The incidence and detection of the viruses were carried out on the basis of symptomatology, insect vector, DAS-ELISA and PCR. An integrated approach was adopted in order to manage the disease complex which included various treatments like seed treatments, nursery and main field treatments in different combinations.

Ms. Borsha Rani Baruah has obtained her M.Sc (Agri) from Assam Agricultural University, Assam, India. She is a Ph. D scholar in AAU. Dr. Palash Deb Nath is a Professor at AAU. He was a recipient of outstanding Ph. D thesis research award from IRRI, Philippines in 1999. He did his post doctorate from UK. He has more than 30 publications and 3 books.
