Linguistic landscape is a recent research domain within sociolinguistics. It investigates the visibility and use of language on public and commercial signs in a given territory or region. The close relation between social semiotics and linguistic landscape greatly helps explore the organization of the textual and visual modes of a given linguistic context. Following this emerging research interest, the book tends to explore the textual and visual resources of shopfront advertising signs in two different linguistic and cultural contexts, namely, American English and Iraqi Arabic from a semiotics perspective.
