In several chapters, the author gives an overview of armaments in Europe and thus answers a wealth of questions related to the term armaments.The first chapter deals with the terms armaments, armaments economy and dual-use goods. The second chapter answers questions on the legal aspects of defence procurement in the EU. In the third chapter the author presents the importance of the defence industry from a historical perspective and also answers questions related to the importance of the defence industry for technological progress.The extensive fourth chapter presents the defence industries of European countries, including Russia.

Brigadegeneraal Hon. Univ. Prof. Dr. Harald Pöcher studeerde af aan de Militaire Academie. Hij is afdelingshoofd van het ministerie van Defensie in Wenen. Hij studeerde parttime economie aan de Universiteit van Wenen en was werkzaam aan de Hongaarse Defensie-universiteit in Boedapest op het gebied van de militaire wetenschap/defensie-economie.
