This book presents the understanding of how the different forms of regulatory mechanisms, like birth and death, competition, consumption and the like, result in changes in the stability and dynamics of ecological systems. It deals with a profound and unique insight into the mathematical richness of basic ecological models. GURUPRASAD SAMANTA is Professor at the Department of Mathematics, Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Howrah, India. He earned his Ph.D. degree in applied mathematics from the University of Calcutta, India, in 1991. His research areas are mathematical biology and operations research. He has published 9 books and over 136 papers in reputed national and international journals
