<p>This book explores Indias economic and political relations and defence cooperation with major West European countriesFrance, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom as well as Austria, the Visegrad Four, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden and the Baltics. It examines the complexity, the elements of convergence and divergence as well as the challenges and prospects of Indias relations with these countries and assesses the diverging EU think tanks images of India. It focuses on Indias multi-dimensional relationship with European countries, which are major trading partners, a significant source and destination of foreign direct investment, an important source of technology and best practices. It examines the Narendra Modi governments policies to re-energise the India-EU matrix and proactively engage Europe and its sub-regions.</p>

<b>Rajendra K. Jain </b>was formerly Professor and Chairperson at the Centre for European Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and Visiting Professor at Warsaw University (February¿May 2022). He was formerly Visiting Humboldt Foundation Fellow/Professor at Constance, Freiburg, Leipzig and Tübingen universities as well as Visiting Professor at the Maison des Sciences de l¿Homme (Paris), the Asia-Europe Institute, University of Malaya (2010), and ICCR Professor of Contemporary India at Leuven University (2015).
